Production Leader at Åby Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

Åby Prison is an open prison located in a picturesque environment in Gunsta, just outside Uppsala. The prison has space for 60 male clients. Inmates are offered employment opportunities in simple wood industry, kitchen work, outdoor labor, and service work, as well as studies and program interventions. The prison currently has 45 employees who work together to ensure community safety and reduce recidivism.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a production leader, you will have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production. In this role, you will be placed both in our outdoor work and inside the production area, where our clients engage in gardening and minor wood industry tasks. Your job will involve working with colleagues to guide clients in maintaining work flow, as well as engaging in motivational work and recidivism prevention discussions. Working in outdoor teams may also involve some service and property maintenance tasks.

In your daily contact with the inmates, your work will contribute to the clients' learning and also help them reflect on their situation.

After your introduction, you will be responsible for the daily operations as a production leader. You will plan, delegate tasks, and ensure that our deliveries are made on time. You will also participate in the production work yourself. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for production planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You should be able to collaborate easily with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's circumstances. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary school education in the form of a diploma or equivalent experience assessed as equivalent by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Work experience in gardening and/or carpentry
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

• Experience in motivational and pedagogical work
• Awareness of safety in terms of work environment and client safety
